While a standard tincture extracts soluble compounds only, our spagyric tinctures also reintegrate the purified alkali mineral salts from the plants. This creates a more complete, balanced, and energetically coherent herbal product.
Spagyric tinctures act primarily on physical, organ-level and constitutional support. They’re alcohol-water extracts that also contain the plant’s alkaline minerals. Spagyric essences are more refined and energetically potent. They primarily address emotional, psychological, and archetypal patterns due to the sensitive nature of their extraction. They’re made by distilling and fermenting the plant before extracting its alkaline minerals and represent the wholeness of the plant by concentrating the chemical, energetic, and spiritual properties.
Dosing spagyrics varies slightly from product to product. For spagyric tinctures and formulas, start with 15-30 drops, which is about ½ to 1 ml, or about ½ to 1 dropperful.* Taking them 3 times per day is a good starting point. For Spagyric Essences, they should be taken in doses of 1-3 drops due to their high concentration.
*Please note that some tinctures have much lower dosages (e.g. Poke root (Phytolacca decandra), Blue Flag (Iris versicolor), and Pulsatilla/Pasque flower (Anemone occidentalis)). Make sure to read the recommended dosage on the bottle for your specific remedy.
Working primarily with fresh, living herbs allows us to capture a broader spectrum of volatile constituents that are often diminished or lost in dried material. Working with fresh plants also ensures we can maintain the quality of the herb and know exactly when and where it was harvested vs. buying dried herbs which are harder to determine the starting quality of the plant material and the medicinal compounds also deteriorate very quickly when dried. Even if an herb is optimally extracted dried, we still prefer to use fresh plants and dry them ourselves in house so we can maintain our own quality standards by using freshly dried herbs.
We tailor our menstruums (the blend of alcohol and water) to best extract the biochemical profile of each plant. Some plant constituents extract more readily in water, others in alcohol. We consider this biochemical individuality to ensure each herb is fully extracted to its greatest capacity.
